Mind-Mapping

After having made two presentations in the past year on the subject of "The Holocaust in 1,000 Years" because of the sense that there was indeed a difference between the ways children of survivors dealt with "the legacy", I am now hoping to get contributions and suggestions for a mind-mapping COLLABORATIVE effort (seeing with a bird's eye view) on what today and tomorrow could entail in terms of Holocaust education.…See More

In Time!

As a child of survivors, time is probably one major factor I would consider in teaching the Holocaust.
This means that it becomes most important to understand what "the Holocaust" would mean one hundred years from now, or even a thousand years from now.
It is OUR responsibility to think "long term", as the members of the "The Long Now Foundation" attempt to do.
This entails a basic understanding of media, cultural memory preservation, semiotics, etc... not just history.

Hi Pier,
I appreciate your joining the Ning. It is possible to upload videos (100 MB size limit) so having this additional storage space for your files and projects might be useful.

Thanks Gigi for setting this up!
I am not ready to upload any kind of media at this point, but I am willing to possibly start a discussion on Boy in the Striped Pajamas...

I've spoken with Peter in the past. Regarding the Boy in Striped Pajamas, I felt it was the anti-Life Is Beautiful. From the first scene until the end, it repeadtedly constrasts play and reality. Of course,
the scenario of two boys meeting at the fence on a regular basis and going undetected is far-fetched, but that closing scene is powerful.
Laurie
